I first discovered
One Piece in late 2000 through my best friend, Zee, who had become quite a fan of the story. ^^ I began reading scanlations of the manga at Manga Screener (who no longer provide scanlations for
One Piece) and was instantly hooked on the series... so much so that I started reading the manga during classes. ^^; Zoro was my favourite character at the time until I read through the volumes five and six and was introduced to Sanji.
What was it about Sanji that made me like him so much at that point? I'm not sure myself but it probably has to do with me not being able to resist chain smoking, suit-clad, slick characters. ;D I mean, Sanji is just plain
cool. I love Sanji's antics; one moment he's all lovey-dovey with Nami and at the drop of a hat, he becomes crude and off-standish towards the boys. The moment that Sanji took the name "Mr. Prince" for himself and stole the show at Alabasta, the lovable chef became my all-time favourite character.
So... with a habit of creating shrines to characters I really like, how could I not have one for Sanji? On top of that, since he had become such a favourite character of mine, I had to do something bigger and better than I had ever done so far. So I decided to create a shrine that would take up an entire domain! It wasn't a new idea to me as I was attempting to make one for another character from another series, but this site would take priority.
The first step was to decide on and register a domain name suitable for the site. There were a lot of ideas that came into my mind but most of them were already taken. All-Blue.org is the domain that I ended up settling on, finding it to be a suitable home for a large Sanji shrine. ^^ The second step would be to figure out what to call the shrine itself. I wanted to incorporate Sanji's alter-ego somehow and I came up with "
Codename: Prince," since "Mr. Prince" could be considered Sanji's codename. Seemed simple enough. ^^ Work on the site officially started on December 28, 2005, when I began designing and writing content for it.
The first layout that appeared online was not the first I had created but I was rather pleased with how it looked. It featured an image of Sanji that was vectored by Zee and a cool, grungy purple theme. Although I really liked how this layout turned out, I became annoyed at how small I had made the iFrame in which the content for the site would be viewed. This layout was used for Codename Prince's layout from August 26, 2004 until I changed the layout in favour of a more functional layout on July 1, 2005.
The current layout was uploaded on July 1, 2005 which is also when I began making major updates to the shrine again after a long period of dormancy due to college life. I'm very pleased with how it turned out... Features include a table-less layout which was coded entirely in CSS, a rotating header image that features a different image of Sanji every time a page is loaded, and a content area that was large enough to contain a lot of content all at once (as opposed to that tiny iFrame on the previous layout).
That pretty much sums up the history for this site thus far... I have many plans for the future which include screen captures from the anime, scans from the manga, fanart, fanfiction and much more. It may take me a while to get these updates completed but I guess that just ensures that there will be many updates from now on. ^_~
