Sanji & Owner Zeff

Zeff and Sanji have a strange sort of relationship. When we're first introduced to the two characters, one could swear that they hated each other. Zeff constantly insults Sanji and his cooking and Sanji constantly rebels against Zeff. Even the other chefs working at Baratie don't realize that the two cooks actually do care a lot about each other.

In the beginning, Sanji hated Zeff. He felt as if Zeff was responsible for ruining his life. If he and his Cook Pirates hadn't raided the Orbit, where Sanji was working, they would have never ended up stranded on a lifeless rock for countless days. This feeling of spite and hatred lasted Sanji seventy days. That's when he learned that Zeff gave Sanji all the food that was left, and that he had eaten his own leg so that Sanji could live. It was that day that Zeff became the man who gave Sanji everything.

Once they were rescued, Zeff took Sanji in and they created a restaurant together. Zeff raised Sanji pretty much like his own son, teaching him secrets in cooking and martial arts. Sanji was even reluctant to join Luffy and leave Baratie because he felt that he hadn't repaid the debt he felt he owed Zeff. However, Zeff encouraged Sanji to go and look for All Blue since that was both of their dreams.

Sanji certainly cares about Zeff, despite him calling him an "old fart" and "shitty." ^^ His tearful good-bye is evidence enough. Of course, when they meet back up again, you know it'll be back to arguing between the two, picking up where they left off. ^_-
